Introducing a complete new way of working with reporting within UNICEF Netherlands, the road to a successful deployment of Power BI reports and dashboards was promising, but also full of potential show-stoppers. As a data analyst building Power BI reports from scratch, Michiel van Straten had to constantly make arbitrary decisions about content, speed, completeness, reliability, visibility, push or pull, strategy or operation, etc. In sharing the mistakes he made, and hopefully also some advice on ‘how to…’, this talk could prevent you from making those same mistakes and help you in your development of Power BI dashboards and reports.
The talk will go into each of the ‘10 mistakes I made’*, show examples, emphasize lessons learned, but also acknowledge the positive angles.
* How peculiar: sometimes these ‘mistakes’ at first glance seem to represent legitemit good practices! Could there be good sides to them too? We will als take a brief look at those. Maybe not all ‘mistakes’ are to be avoided?
